Exhibition Introduction
The Hualien Disaster Prevention and Education Center is the first disaster prevention and rescue facility in Eastern Taiwan established by the Hualien County Fire Department. It offers an integrated learning environment through both online and offline interactive methods.
The exhibition spaces on the first and second floors utilize a variety of techniques—including interaction, technology, and hands-on experience—to guide the public in understanding disaster causes, prevention, self-rescue, and evacuation. By grounding disaster education in solid practical energy, the center aims to enhance public safety and serve as a systematic disaster prevention and rescue venue
Exhibition Planning
Hualien is the longest region on Taiwan’s east coast, boasting beautiful scenery; however, its natural environment harbors latent risks, often placing it on the front lines of natural disasters. Within Taiwan, Hualien experiences the highest frequency of earthquakes and debris flows, and it is the first to face the impact of incoming typhoons. In daily life, residents also face hazards such as mountain accidents, drowning, fires, and carbon monoxide poisoning, all of which threaten lives.
Therefore, when a disaster strikes, we must avoid panic and possess the ability to "save ourselves". By understanding how to respond and prevent disasters in advance through the center's interactive learning and drills, the public can shorten their panic and reaction times, achieving the center's goal of exhibition-based education

Concept of Design
The exhibition spaces on the first and second floors follow a thematic storyline based on the chronology of a disaster. Using a "participatory exhibition" approach combined with multimedia, the displays aim to be "perceptible" and "experiential". Accompanied by diagrammatic illustrations and text explanations, the space enhances interactivity and fun, guiding visitors to learn disaster prevention knowledge through physical movement and enjoy the core values of the center.
